Sound therapy has been around for over 2,000 years and has helped to heal many ailments both physically and mentally.
Often referred to as a ‘sound bath’ and involving no water as it simply means that the sounds wash over you in waves with different frequencies and vibrations from the various healing instruments used. One becomes enveloped by the sounds and easily transitions into deep relaxation and meditation.
Sessions can be individual or in groups and all that is required of you is to sit or lay down and relax! Switch off to the sounds of these very powerful and healing instruments. Each individual will have a different experience from a sound bath and whatever this may be you can rest assured it is a positive and much needed healing one.
Sound therapy can be used alongside other traditional treatments to complement and manage a condition e.g. stress, anxiety, trauma, pain, low self-esteem. (Always check with your healthcare professional first).
A person does not hear sound only through the ears; he hears sound through every part of the body. It permeates the entire being and according to its particular influence, either slows or quickens the rhythm of the blood circulation; it either awakens or soothes the nerve system.

How does
sound therapy
work?
The body is held together by sound. The presence of disease indicates that some sounds have gone out of tune.
Deepak Chopra
There is some evidence to say that our human bodies have energetic frequencies and when a person feels physically or mentally ill sound therapy can help to heal whereby soothing and relaxing sound frequencies / vibrations travel through the body and get to work. This can actually change brain wave patterns so we can transition to a calmer mindset and create physical changes within the body so we can heal. Therefore, this is a cumulative therapy like many other alternative/complementary treatments are.
Different instruments are used in the sessions (singing bowl, koshi chime, tongue drum, bell and Gong) and simply listening to these will relax and begin to heal you. Think of it as a whole-body workout from head to toe as our bodies all tie together as in effect you are a sum of all your parts.
